Guilherme Sant'Anna, MD.
Dr Guilherme SANT’ANNA is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGill University and an attending Neonatologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital - MUHC. He received his MD from Brazil and completed his clinical and research training at McGill University. He obtained his PhD in Physiology in 2002. He worked as an Associated Professor at McMaster University from 2005 to 2009, when he finally returned to McGill to pursue a clinical research career. His research interests are in neonatal physiology (respiratory and thermoregulation) and invasive and non-invasive ventilation. He investigates the role of heart rate and respiratory variability to predict extubation failure in extreme preterms and differences in cardiorespiratory patterns after extubation. He is also involved in research with infants with HIE, particularly with mild HIE. He has developed several research collaborations at national and international levels.
